Latley my power steering pump has been whining (they all do) I have been going to replace it but haven't gotten around to it. While driving last night I went to turn and it was like my steering column or what not got caught on something and broke right free and made a slight "klunk" noise (faintly). It wasn't like I lose power steering it was like a mechanical thing, now it is doing it like crazy all the time it doesn't stick really bad but it is bothering me and I don't want it to lock up and stop me. I just wanted to know if anyone else has had this problem and what it is???? Thanks!:bang:

Make sure nothings caught in the shaft inside the engine bay. Once my autometer temp line got caught on the steering shaft.

When you do the pump, if the whole setup has alot of miles, just do it all, pump, lines if they are beat up, new rack (which should come with inner tie rods) and new outers.
Then get an alignment.
Bad/old power steering parts can contaminate new parts.
I know it sucks to spend that kinda money and get no performance gain, but steering is pretty important, and can save you tire money in the long run.
