Steering rack bushings

So i changed my steering rack bushings to the moogs, because i was getting an awful creek everytime i went over a speed bump, or turned the wheel. I thought it was the bushings because of information i read on this board, plus one of them was clearly visibly cracked on the outside lip.

Well that didnt do anything for the noise. Whats my next step to fix this creek/ squeek?

i would check your A arm bushings

I have a similar problem.... my noise is coming from the strut bearings shifting in the strut towers below the caster/camber plates.


I still haven't gotten around to fixing it, yet.

check all your bushings up from and dont forget to check your ball joints also.

Yes.....BALL JOINTS. I have changed a bunch of these to fix a squeaking front end. You can pierce the ball joint dust boot with a small awl. Then spray a little WD40 in the with the can straw through the hole. This will temporarily stop the sqeak.

Mine is making the same noise. I mostly notice it at idle, or slow speeds if I turn the wheel a little. The Ford dealer told me it was outer tie rod, but I was told on stangnet that it is the ball joint.

I trust the fellow Stang owners on here more than the local Ford garage who just wants my money.

BALL JOINTS!! Mustang ball joints are junk and don't buy them at the dealer either, because they are junk even when new. Buy MOOG ball joints and press them in. The ball joint spins when you turn the wheel. I have had squeaky blal joints on Mustangs and on Ford F150's.

I personally have never heard a tie rod make noise, but I have seen them get extremely loose at around 75K depending on how the car is driven and if it is lowered or not. IF the stock ride height is kept is pro longs the life of the suspension. I would still replace the tie rods with MOOGS while your at it. Car will fell new again with new tie rods and ball joints.
