Steering Rack hit Oil Pan pics DUW PLEASE HELP....

As you can see my new manual rack hits my oil pan. Any Suggestions????

Negative. Small dents are not going to prevent interference when the motor "torques".

The way I see it, you have two options. The first would be to replace you motor mounts with a taller set. Though they are different chasis, the aftermarket urethane mounts that I put on my car positioned the motor considerably lower thatn the stockers did.

Option two would be to cut and install spacers between the mounts and the block.

I opted for option 2 with my conbo. I gained a good 3/8s of an inch clearance between my Canton and the steering rack.

Would be nice if Canton would just put a "tunnel bump" in the pan right there as it seems to be a common occurance.

It didn't on mine. It just moved everything up, the width of the spacer. You can test fit it before you do anything permanent. I was able to get the mount bolts out without taking everything apart.

I put spacers (washers) in between the mounts and the block till I was happy with it then I (actually Rick 91GT) cut me some solid steel spacers to match the height of the stack of washers.

We did end up putting some slightly longer grade 8 bolts into the mounts/block along with some RED thread-lock, just to be safe.

You'll need to make the call about the bolts depending upon how many threads you loose to the spacers.

Sorry forgot about those options, and I would double check the pinion angle after lifting the motor just to be sure.

I don't remember exactly how tall my spacers were. You should only need a 1/4 to 3/8 total clearance between the pan and the rack to be safe. Just make sure that you set the car down on it's feet, remove all lifting devices from the motor, and bounce the front of the car up and down on it's suspension a few times, to ensure that everything is sitting and settled (vetical mount bolts tight, of course).

Your setup looks like it's barely contacting the rack. Mine was sitting pretty hard on it. I'd imagine that you're not going to need very tall spacers to gain the clearance that you need.

Well the thing is that in some of those pics I took the bushings off to adjust the mounts and make sure the motor was fully settled in. so yeah we might actually be needing the same amount.
