Just to be clear this is the bushing that attaches to the K member that the steering rack rides on seems to be Pressed in...... My bolt seems to be fused to it..... i’ll try the heat tonight if not I have to cut it loose .... I do have a new bushing
If your car has ever had a wheel impact, there is the possibility that they are bent. I had to beat mine out of the K-Member on my '93 which had apparently gone down in a ditch at some point. The sleeve and rack bolt were both bent.
My bolt is frozen in the sleeve it’s hell getting the steering rack on when you can’t push the bolt in an extra inch..... I have a new steering rack to put in I’m gonna take out the bushings and see if I can get it over the bolt hopefully I won’t have to cut it out ......or left the engine up oil pan in the way.........I’ll figure it out .......I’m getting tired of this car
I don't see how cutting would help. I would think having it full length would help with leverage. Mine are like others mention above. You should be able to take a correctly sized punch and tap them out. If course it's easy to say that without seeing but those of us that have removed them know how they sit in there. It's kinda like a roll pin fit.
You guys are right on point the bolt is seized in the bushing and it sticks out so far that I’m having problems getting the rack on without damaging the lines (front oil pan in the way) that’s why I say I may have to cut out the bolt / bushing and press the new bushing back in...... but I’ll be Gucci if I can free this bolt......
Got my Sawall cut off the bolt and wiggled the bushing out..... rack and pinion is in just got to flush the system.... and install new lines and filter........ blot was seized in the sleeve .....
