My steering shaft goes in between the two pipes of my long tubes. Do all long tubes do this? The steering shaft is actually rubbing on the header. Anyway to buy pass this problem? I beleive they are Summit Lt's. I just bought the car and am trying to wien out all the little bugs. Thanks!

I have seen this before. Actually on some older muscle cars the steering linkage also goes through the header.

If you have clearance issues you have 2 choices. You can change the headers to a brand that has extra clearance for the steering shaft or you can change the steering shaft. Maximum Motorsports has a nice one for about $200.00.

Check out your motor mounts first. Replacing worn motor mounts will take care of this problem half the time.

My BBK L/T's on my 4.6L Cobra have the steering shaft between them. There is nothing wrong with this, that is how they are designed.

Take a look at the mounts before you do anything. The rubber parts will have a 'smooshed' appearance once they wear out. Another option would be to put a washers under the passenger side motor mount until that tube is no longer contacting your header. Good luck.
