I didnt hook up my stereo on my car it came with the car. but the amp is getting its power from the battery as most systems do, but mine seems to be draining my batt. If i hook it up to the batt i usually get one start. Next start I lose all power until i unhook it from the batt and try again she starts right up. Any solutions to the problem?

also what type of amp is it? and are you running a cap with it? Because if it is turning off but killing ur battery good chance that its making ur alt. suggle to keep up with the power the amp needs if u dont have a cap. (if its a high watt type of amp)

its an explode 500watt im not running a cap

chances are you need to run a remote wire (a wire that signals the amp to turn on/off) from your deck. turn off your car and check the amp, look and see if the power light stays on..if so thats your problem
i dont see a cap being the solution to your problem if you are running just a sony 500W amp. when you drive with your lights on and the stereo thumping if your light dim then you might wanna consider a cap. :nice:

the blue wire on the back of your deck "remote wire or power antenna wire" should have a wire going to the REM on the amp. Some people will run a 4" piece of wire from the amp's power soruce on the amp over to the remote connection....It might look like this
_______REM
|
|_______12V

Something like that lol ...Wrong way

he should be alright without a cap with the song 500watt, im running a 480w for my speakers n i dont have it connected to my cap. but liked stated be4 the amps probably not shutting off, take a look at amp and see if theres a small 18-22 gauge wire next to the power n ground(easy way to see if it has the remote shut off) best of luck

ok well im going out to check to see if i have a remote wire. But i did check to see if the amp shuts off when i turn the car off and it does... i dont know what it could be
