Assuming I added rear 03 Cobra brakes with STOCK 94/95 front brakes, what MC/BB would you reccomend? I'm interested in a soft pedal feel. Not terrible soft, I want the brakes to bite, but I don't want a sticff pedal as you would get when the car is off and you pump the pedal a few times. Some of the combo's I have come accross are:
M/Cs-
93 Cobra (1") Stiff?
94-98 Cobra (15/16") Good pedal feel?
94-98 GT/V6 (1 1"16) Stiff?
99+ V6... No real reviews on this one.
BBs
Any differences in the 94-98 GT/V6?Cobras? Will they all fit a Fox?

I was considering the 94-98 Cobra, since it's small bore will allow a nice pedal feel, but are these hard to find? They will support future brake upgrades (Baer if I ever go crazy)? What BB should I use?

Now, to throw another variable in the mix, I have a TFS stage 1 cam. Does that effect my vacuum for the brakes much? With this cam, What MC/BB would best fit what I/m looking for?

I need Nyquil... can't sleep. But maybe, my rear brakes will be bigger, or most certaintly equal to my fronts. That's why I'm posting this question. My brakes will have to be this way until I find a deal on some 17" rims, and the money to buy some 13" brakes. I'm stuck with the SN95 Waffle rims because new rims are very expensive, and I JUST got new tires. I honestly never thought of it that way, funny isn't it?

They Cobra rears should be the same size as the GT fronts (11.65"). You could grab a set of the PBR calipers from the newer (up to 04) GT and get some better braking than with 95 GT brakes. They're a dual piston caliper and can still be used on a stock GT sized rotor. I do believe that will clear 16" wheels.

X2! I would never use the Single Piston Steel Calipers up Front, they are not much better than the Stock Fox Caliper, get the 99-04 PBRs. After you gut you Stock Prop Valve and add an Adjustable Prop Valve, I would then choose the 93 Cobra Brake Booster and M/C. I want to say that the SN95 Cobra M/Cs had different sized line nuts so that they could never be installed by mistake on the Assembly Line, this would create some extra work for you.

Thanks for the input, the 93 MC/BB will give me the pedal feel I'm looking for? Like I said I like the brakes to bite (You ever drive the new BMWs? Damn, they're perfect) but I do NOT want the pedal heavy. I just might luck out and get 99+ V6 calipers up front (dual piston PBRs).

Please spend the few extra bucks and get the 99-04 PBRs you will be pleased. The 93 Cobra Booster is easiest to fit in your Fox as it has the same Stud Pattern and Thread Pitch as your Stock Booster and the 93 Cobra M/C is a Good Match. I have Cobra Brakes Front and Rear along with the 93 M/C, Booster and have awesome Pedal Feel, the 99-04 PBRs will push about the same amount of fluid as the Cobras, so you will be set. You can get a 3-2 Kit from Maximum Motorsports, and just about everyone carries the Ford Racing Plug for when you gut your Prop Valve.

Yes, you are right....they are 11.65" while the GT fronts are 10.8"

Also, '03 Cobras have an IRS, so technically he can't have '03 Cobra brakes on his solid axle rear fox.

He should have 94-98 Cobra brakes...or 03/04 Mach 1 brakes.

Anyway he can run the larger rears if he has an adjustable prop valve and turns down the rear pressure.

Combined with 99-04 Gt/V6 dual piston fronts, it should be a decent brake setup, but look odd with the larger rear rotors.

I'd use a '93 Cobra MC, or a 94/95 GT/Cobra MC...and the '93 booster (or SN95 if you want to wiggle it in) along with a 3-2 conversion and MANDATORY an adjustable prop valve to lower pressure to the larger rears. You will have to gut the stock prop valve as well

Oh, you have no faith grasshopper. The notch will have IRS, that's when I'm swapping the brakes, when the IRS goes in.

If you were on a budget now, I would suggest to do exactly as you planned. Upgrade the rear to cobra, and the fronts to sn95, upgrading the fronts later on would be alot easier and less of a hassle to do than the rears (twice).

I have a complete SN95 front brake setup FTW... $150 to your door.
All you would need would be spindles (and pads)
The rotors are slightly different since I got them off 2 different cars (scored at junkyard and only kept spindles)

I was going to use them but went with the m2300k setup instead.

I could get spindles, calipers, rotors and soft lines for almost that much.

Spindles usually sell for about $125-150 pair....so if you can get the entire kit cheaper than that, then it's a deal

Just go to a salvage yard and pull some. I got my 96 spindles for $60 each.
Autozone sells the PBR calipers for like $50 each with a lifetime warranty.

And the 96-04 PBR's will clear a 15" Prostar with a small spacer.

I have cobra front and rear brakes on my 86. I tried the SN95 V6/GT master cylinder and it was extremely stiff, and I hated it. So I switched to the SN95 Cobra MC and the pedal feel is much better (softer) so I would suggest it.

Do you have the rear calipers off of an 03 cobra on there? I was just looking at mine in the garage and I dont understand why they wont work. They have a traditional two bolt mount like any other caliper

The calipers will work. They are the same as the solid rear calipers.

It's just that the '03 Cobra uses an IRS, so everything else (mount brackets, anti-moans, hoses) are different.

But if you have the calipers, you are ok. You'll just need to get the north race car brackets, anti-moans and other parts for a solid rear car
