On my 1991 LX 5.0 How come the hole in the fender for the stock airbox does not line up ? I think they are all like that from the factory for some reason?

I have a stock 91 also and yes, the fender/airbox holes don’t match up perfectly but the seal on the air box does wrap around the entire fender hole perfectly so there are no gaps exposed at all... it’s fine...
you can see in this picture the old residue from the airbox seal. It shows the top is higher than the bottom by a slight bit but it’s sealed and lined up close enough...

What is better the stock mass air box with a fresh charged up k&n air filter or a cold air in take ? Or that big cone air filter?
