stock exhaust tubing measurement

Can anyone tell me if the stock exhaust tubing on a 2002 GT is 2.5''? or 2.25''? I measured best I could and i got near 2.5''...anyone know forsure?

Well, since it's not mandrel bent, it's different sizes in different places. But, it should be 2.25" for the most part.

btw if you're thinking getting bigger pipes help, it supposedly doesn't. the restriction is actually suppose to be good for your car

I am thinking to weld some flowmasters in and put some tips on but the 2.25 pipes wont fit any tips ive seen unfortunately...any suggestions?

what size tips? if you found some that got smaller at the end, like down to 2.5" you could clamp them together easy

Save yourself the hassle and just do the catback.

Down the road when you decide to do a midpipe/headers the catback will match up and you wont have to redo it.

I agree.. if you're replacing the mufflers and tips might as well just find a cat-back you like.

I agree also. Just get a cats-back for now and save the mid-pipe swap.

does the american thunder catback from flowmaster come with the flowmaster 40 mufflers? thats the thing...i heard a clip with american thunder catback and flowmaster 40's and i liked the second one best, but maybe i could just get some tubing from flowmaster to match the 40s? any ideas?

Ford Claims 2.5", but with all the bends, it usually makes for 2.25"
