^^ditto.

Anything is an upgrade over stock. Do a search on headers (title only) and you will find a wealth of info and opinions.

Good luck!

If the motor is stock,or under 250HP,the factory headers are the best combo for the motor performance wise!!

100% agreed. The stock headers are actually pretty good. They may have some kinks, but they increase velosity. The most restrictive point in the exaust system is in the exaust ports in the heads.

Agreed with Jason and Willys. I seem to recall dyno info showing the stockers to be ok to about 270 horsies.

Now aesthetics are another issue.........

Here is a site worth looking at, tells you a lot about understanding exaust systems.

I have to agree with willys1, HISSIN50 &
90mustangGT. My first mod to my Stang was BBK shorty headers, x-pipe and full 2 1/2 exhaust. The sound was awesome, but power was the same as before.

I put FMS shorties on with stock H/I/C still on.I lost a noticable amount of low end torque.Keep them on and go for something else. What mods do you have so far?

Agreed. Until you get to the high 200 hp mark the stock ones will do you just fine. If you change the headers you should also think about changing out the restrictive stock H pipes. Long tubes would be the best way to go unless your state doesn't allow them. Otherwise just stick with some shorty unequal lenth(equal length don't make much of a difference in such a short tube. Just harder to install really) and definately get ceramic coated. I have bbk but if I were to do them again I would go FMS for about the same price.

The MAC PERFORMANCE exhaust is nice, and inexpensive. We're doing the HTS shorties,PRO CHamber and cat back flow path system on our show car.

Can't wait to hear it.My LX has 108,000 on the stock H-Pipe.
