Hi guys, we bought a 90 5.0 HO and drivetrain for a 66 Mustang.

So far, we've found MSD ignition, headers, E303 cam (I think) and a T5z; which makes me question if the heads are aftermarket or not. I know that there should be some type of E7 casting SOMEWHERE, but without removing them, I see nothing.

The only available codes are:
On the drivers side head I can see these:
29549
1510C
1 1/2
(1 or T)-4
(B or 8)J28

and on the passenger side:
29105
1510C
1 1/2
(1 or T)-4
(B or 8)H14

and a few pictures...

Thanks for your time!
-Dave

Stock intake and stamped rockers? I would venture they are stock e7 heads.

Thanks! Just wanted to be sure. I usually work on engines with 6 or less cylinders, and this is my first domestic; just wanted someone in the know to check it out.

A close up of the exhaust ports would tell more of the story, but I'm with stykthyn in the throught that they're probably stock heads. That being said....now would be a good time to swap out of something else if you're going to. If money is tight, a set of GT40/GT40P's can be had a the local wrecker for a few hundred dollars and will add a good 30hp over the stock E7TE castings that are on there now.

Here is a picture of some GT40P castings I have out in the garage. If you look riiight there where I'm pointing you'll see "gt40p" If yours are stock they'll say "E7TE" in the same place.

That's actually incorrect. The E7TE stamp is on the underside of the head located on the intake side between the pushrod holes and can't be seen unless the head is off the engine.

I was thinking they were in the same spot, but since you mention that, I think you're right. I have some E7's down the road in storage, I'll post pics tomorrow.

If the "headers" you're talking about are on the floor next to the stock intake, those are the stock stainless manifolds. Again, stock intake, stock exhaust, stamped rockers and cast iron heads, you're about 99.32% guaranteed that those are stock E7's. Another telling point is that it still has the OE rubber end gaskets for the intake manifold. Most people ditch those when they redo the intake gasket. I'd bet that the engine has never been opened up in it's life.

Might have to get a Dart block but don't want to and if I do, then 363 instead of 331. Thoughts on what I've already bought so far.......
