What's the extra hole for in the stock intake... I'm working backwards. The car I had has an Explorer intake with the Air Temp sensor tapped into it.

That depends on where this extra hole is located

air temp hole!

So it's a normal Explorer intake on a stock car swap...

So I'll cap a vacuum line on the stock car for the EGR and the temp sensor is relocated to the upper Explorer intake. I have a $30 piece that lies to the computer and tells it EGR is working...

So then I cap the hose going from the TB to the valve cover and I'm straight?

Buying a 70mm TB/Spacer w/ water jackets...

Anyone see a hole in my plan???

You will want to leave the TB/VC line intact, that is part of the pcv system.
You can cap the coolant inlet and outlet for the egr spacer once the egr is removed.

Keep in mind that the plug modules that send a false signal to the computer don't disable the egr. The computer is still adding timing at part throttle, like the egr were still there. This can cause part throttle issues.

Depending on how the Explorer routes the egr you may want to cap off some passages.
No reason to send hot exhaust through the intake if you aren't running egr.

Can I just keep the egr connected with an explorer intake?

get a vacuum diagram for the explorer then hook up your components to the corosponding ports then cap the ones not needed

If you have the egr routed correctly, I don't see why not.

One year of the Explorer 5.0 had an externally routed egr, I think.

As long as all the parts are there you should be good though.
