My stock tach does not move, but all my other gauges are moving. What could be the problem? Im getting ready to put in a order to 5.0 Resto and want to order the parts to fix it. Thanks.
I have an 86. My coil has a signal wire (red) to fire and a green wire which is the signal wire for the tach. I spliced a small pigtail on my green wire so that I can hook up a dwell/tach meter when needed. Check on your coil for the tach wire. Maybe broken, etc. That's what I would check first. I've got a wiring diagram but no scanner, sorry.
Would an '89 GT hook up different than an '86? I've been looking at my coil and I just see:
-one wire running from the coil to the distributor
-one harness with two wires in it
I also noticed a small connector (it just has about enough wire to reach the coil) laying under my coil that came out of the big harness from the firewall.....any ideas on what that could be?
