This morning I heard from the dad of a neighborhood kid that the kid's '66 289 coupe was stolen off the street at the local high school. He had a "Club" AND a brake pedal locker on it, so it sounds like a tow truck job to me -- this street has diagonal parking.
This was in Albany CA, in what's called "the East Bay."
The car is turquoise inside and out--I don't know the exact color name. The paint is oxidized but has been polished to a slight shine. Please be on the lookout for this car, and also for these parts: 17 x 8 Torque Thrust II's with 40-series tires, Baer front disc brakes, Maier Racing boxed upper control arms, and 4.5 leaf rear springs. He'd also installed an Edelbrock intake, not the RPM or Air Gap, and an Edelbrock electric choke carb. Factory C4 and 8" with the 2.79(?) cruiser gears. If you see a guy at a swap meet with this combination of stuff, he's the thief or he knows who is.
This is really tragic. This kid paid for all this stuff, working two jobs, and installed it too, and he's only 17 yrs old.

amnit: ) and I can't even imagine something like that happening. It's the worst when it happens to a kid like that who's put so much time/money into his car. crapola
