This morning I heard from the dad of a neighborhood kid that the kid's '66 289 coupe was stolen off the street at the local high school. He had a "Club" AND a brake pedal locker on it, so it sounds like a tow truck job to me -- this street has diagonal parking.

This was in Albany CA, in what's called "the East Bay."

The car is turquoise inside and out--I don't know the exact color name. The paint is oxidized but has been polished to a slight shine. Please be on the lookout for this car, and also for these parts: 17 x 8 Torque Thrust II's with 40-series tires, Baer front disc brakes, Maier Racing boxed upper control arms, and 4.5 leaf rear springs. He'd also installed an Edelbrock intake, not the RPM or Air Gap, and an Edelbrock electric choke carb. Factory C4 and 8" with the 2.79(?) cruiser gears. If you see a guy at a swap meet with this combination of stuff, he's the thief or he knows who is.

This is really tragic. This kid paid for all this stuff, working two jobs, and installed it too, and he's only 17 yrs old.

Chances are the guy changed the license plate if he was smart. I would check out eBaymotors or any places that sell cars.

A cold chill just ran down my spine. I have a brake lock, a padlock on my shifter, a hood lock, and a pager alarm but I guess all it takes is a tow truck to crap on your party. Bastards.

That sucks... I'm 17 and saving up for my first stang (it's taking a loooong time amnit: ) and I can't even imagine something like that happening. It's the worst when it happens to a kid like that who's put so much time/money into his car. crapola

I hope the thief gets neutered/spayed on purpose then hung by the ears, then pancake syrup poured over their body on a red ant hill. amnit:

If Foose overhauls that he needs to be overhauled! Man that sucks but it all comes down to if they want it they will take it. I don't even lock my doors, no sense them busting out perfectly good glass.

Now if you live in Cali, and your car is stolen, do you wait 7 days before reporting it so you make sure your not Overhauled?

The Kid's father wouldn't be telling people to look for the car if it was being overhauled. Anyway, sad story.

Will do - I'm in the area

If I see anything like this I'll be on the phone to Oakland PD. Maybe I'll keep my Kryptonite New York Chain on me so I can lock the car until someone shows up. ;-)
