So i see this ad here locally for this :85 thunderbird turbocoupe 4cyl turbo charged 2.3l engine, 5sp manual tranny, EFI with all engine wiring (not cut), computer, sensors, guages. The guy wants $750 O.B.O. I have a 92 coupe (mustang) 4 banger now. What will the conversion be like? Easy? Since he claims to have everything it should be a simple cut and dry swap? Will the ecm be located and fit in the same area as the stang ECM does? I want it to apear factory without having to majorly mod anything to accomplish it.In my car now is a t-5 and is the coil pack motor. This is my daily driver BUT i also have a 93 coupe i can drive till the rainny (winter ) season hits in about 2 months. Is this a fair price for this combo? peace

Dunno I bought a whole '84 TC (no title) a few years ago for $150.

Pulled the engine and tranny, parted the rest and made back more than I paid for the car.

well not really cheap you want to offer him a fair trade as well but if he stays at 750 i would probably laugh at him.. you can get the same rebuilt engine e-bay style for that WITH a warranty!

How many miles on the engine/trans? Does it leak/smoke? I sold an 88 turbo coupe engine for $450 bucks. I sold the t-5 for $300. It sounds about right to me, however I think the guys are trying to say that there could be better deals out there. If this engine is pulled allready then he is trying to make as much $$$ as he can. You might find a better buy if you find a wrecked car with a good drive train. Anyhow, Good luck. The swap should go fairly well as long as your good with wirring and youre patient!
