Ever since I've had my car, when I really get on it, I get this god-awful ticking / clacking sound. If I ease the car up in RPM it doesn't do it, but if I stomp it it'll start clacking around 3-3500 RPM. I just had my clutch, flywheel, and bearing replaced and it still does it. Any ideas???
Do you have an after market shifter? Mine makes a racket that is similar to what you describe. In my case, it's just the shifter stick vibrating against the steel stops. You can insulate those stops with some mole skin if it bothers you that much and you think that this might be the source of the noise.
