The last week or two I've noticed what sounds like my exhaust gurgling (like with mouth wash). It happens only when my tac. is between 2000 and 1000 rpms and on the way down (decelerating). Also sometimes happens at idle. It is worse in the morning before the engine warms up but sometimes still happens when it is warm.

At first I was positive it was coming from the exhaust, now I'm not so sure. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT! I have no idea what the problem is.

Are you looking for a guess?

Clogged cats or exhaust. Perhaps a baffle has rusted out in the muffler. Water trapped in the muffler.

Get under the car and hit the exhaust with a rubber mallet. Listen for anything that is rattling.

Any changes recently? Did you remove the square chamber between the IAC and the intake tube?

Yes, I will take any guesses at this point. And no, I have made no changes in the last 3 months.

I will try what you suggested, but I'd love some other input.

Boy, diagnosing sounds over the internet is virtually impossible, especially without a clip.

"Gurgling" from the exhaust on the overrun could be normal until the PCM enters or exits decel-fuel cutoff. A little unburnt fuel burning in the exhaust can make gurling noises; the exhaust becomes much quieter when the PCM shuts off the injectors after a sustained period of decel. Or it could be the DFCO you're hearing that goes away when the PCM re-starts the injectors as the engine nears idle-speed while decelerating.

Not enough info. See if you can get a clip.

I'll see what I can do. Owe, and it's been idling a bit high as well. Not sure if that helps.
