well it finally warmed up here and i plan on doing the hci swap but my car still has the strange miss every few days. It will start up fine and idle and it will run great for days, then out of the blue just crusing along the rpms will bounce down quickly and the car will start jerking. (it backfired ONE time about 2 months ago)If i try to stay on the gas the rpms just bounce and the car bucks. It only does this for a few seconds then it will run fine again with no problems for days Today it did the same thing just as i was getting home so i pulled up and cut the car off and then tried to restart it and it just cranked and cranked. I waited a few seconds then it started up and idled fine. (I was pulling into a buddies house awhile back and it did the same thing, started missing then i cut it off and tried to restart it and it just cranked and cranked so i waited a few seconds, then she fired right up and ran fine. Sorry for the long post but i guess i need to clear this up before i can go on with the swap. I tried cleaning the maf, and i changed the plugs/wires but i still get the miss every few days. Please help. thankx

Is the RPM gauge bouncing to zero while this is happenning and the engine is still running? This is what I gather from your post. CPS maybe

Crankshaft position sensor...Not a very common problem on the 5.0 (as far as I know of) The sensor also runs your RPM gauge, if your not dropping to zero RPMS it's probably not your CPS.
