Strange sound?

I was driving home from work tonight and was punching it as usual to get up to speed. I would let off quick at 50 and would hear a strange snapping/rapping sound. I don't think its knocking and pining because I know what that sounds like. My dads old Exploder (Explorer) had that problem. What could it be? As of now it only seems to happen at 50 and I let off that gas. Again I would accel hard up to 50 then let off right when I got to 50.
Over drive is on, Traction control is on. Also happens when over drive is off. Didn't try it with Traction control off. My car is an auto.

Can you be a little more descriptive? Is the noise coming from the engine? Underneath the car? Rear of the car? How long does it make the noise once it starts?

Sounds like it’s from the engine, it happens right before it downshifts. A guy at work said it could be the exhaust.

Solution? Stop punching it from a dead stop and letting off when you get to 50.

Seriously. If it doesn't do it unless you're raggin' it like that, then yer car is probably trying to tell you that you're wearing something out. Stop it! Take care of yer car bro!

Is it normal when going from reverse then into drive that there is a small clunk sound? Sorry Im asking so many question but this is my first mustang and I have only had it for 2 weeks.
