My vehicle: 2005 Black V6, built 04/05.

I was leaving my parents' house on Saturday. After driving about 1/2 mile I decided to turn on the stereo (shaker 500). I've never had any problems with it before (it is a "B" series).

I hit FM and it turned on to 94.9 where I had left it before. I didn't hear any sound, so I figured the volume must be all the way down, but I didn't remember turning it down as I never do that.

When I tried to turn it up, the stereo was unresponsive. After a moment, the 9 went away, leaving "4.9 [time]" on the display (with the real time, ofcourse).

I tried to turn it off, but it didn't do anything.

When I got to a stoplight, I turned the vehicle off and opened the door slightly... no change. Still didn't turn off.

So I drove on to return the DVD to the store on my way home. Eventually the 4.9 went away leaving only the clock; however, the clock gave accurate time the whole way.

Stereo was unchanged, though.. wouldn't do anything other than display time.

When I got to the video store, I got out and the time was still displaying on the stereo... weird. A moment later, I returned to the car because I had forgotten the video. While I was leaning into the car to get the video, the time goes away.

After returning the video and getting back into the car, the stereo worked perfectly again.

Strange, but figured I would share.

Well, it did it to me again this morning. I was sitting in the car with my son waiting for his bus to pick him up.

After he left, I pressed "FM/AM" and nothing happened. I had to "reboot" the car before the stereo would work (leave the car completely off for about 30 seconds).

I had a similar thing happen, though I was listening to CD's. Pushed eject to get a CD out after a few moments of trying to figure out what was going on (oh yeah, couldn't even turn the power off), and it ejected all the CD's with just pushing the eject button once... Then it went to radio, sat there for a second, then radio started working fine, and so I put a CD in and that works fine too. BUt I'm POed 'cuz one of the few CD's I've purchased in recent months got screwed up. I dunno want happened inside there, but it's got a big circle all the way around the middle of the cd, kind of line the laser burnt it. Hasn't happened again. If it does, I'm not ****ing with it. I'll take it right to Ford.

I had a strange thing happen to the Shaker-500 in my Mustang Friday Night.
I went to a 'Cruise Night' in my area, and when I got in my car the stereo seemed to be working fine, but since I had a friend with me the volume was turned down, but I could hear the music playing.
After I dropped my friend off at his house and backed into my driveway I turned the volume up and I didn't seem to get any sound from the speakers.
(to give you an idea what it sounded like turn your stereo on and press the '3' and '6' keys at the same time to run a test of the stereo. When it gets to the 'woofer' that's the sound I got).
I turned the radio off, then back on and haven't had any other problems.

I forgot to add that my car is a 2005 Mustang GT, Built December 14 04.
I have the 'version-B' of the Shaker-500

Funny thing, on the night of July 4th, My Girlfriend and I came back from the beach after the fireworks, and I took left to take a movie back, and when I cranked up the car, all I could hear was a very muffled bass. At first I thought it was just the station and tried to guess the song. I soon tired of that game and tuned to another station only to hear the same. I thought, oh crap, now its my turn. When I got to the video store, I shut the car off and ran in. When I re cranked it eveything was back to a/ok! That was in July, have not seen the problem reoccur since then, Knock on my head!
