Woman killed in Edmonton street racing incident

EDMONTON (CBC) - A woman was killed Thursday night when she was struck by a Corvette street racing in the city's north end.

Police say the woman, who was in her mid-50s, was walking alone on the sidewalk in the area of 137th Avenue and 50th Street just after 8 p.m.

Two Corvettes were racing when one lost control, jumped the curb and hit the woman from behind, police say. Neither driver was injured.

The woman was taken to hospital, where she died early Friday morning.

Police say charges are likely.

Another reason street racing is stoopid.
