How much power will an aluminium 302 Dart block withstand?

You need to be asking Dart that question, they'll be able to answer it.

Holy sheet. So it'll generally withstand anything you could build in it that runs on premium pump gas?

D. Hearne, I usually do email the manufacturers, but I've been getting a lot of "you need to ring us" answers... Even with simple things that could be one line answers, and I'll be darned if I'm racking up an international phone bill just for that.

Oh, NOW I see your problem. I didn't realize you were "down under" Want me to give them a call for you? It won't cost me squat on my cell phone. Just a little time. Then again I can probably get an answer from a guy here that's building my 331 short block, He'll probably know the answer to your question.

It is not the same for all motors. Blower motors that put out out 700 hp on the dyno, put 900 hp on the block (200 to turn the blower + 700 at the back. Rpm and rotating weight also will affect hp limits.

If you go to the "DART BLOCKS" section of DSS's website it says that they're capable of 2,000. This is a number that sticks in my head from other sources as well.

Yeh I can see that and I should have said an NA motor.

347 is the biggest stroker you can fit in the 302 block right? So if you build a 347 stroker out of the toughest stuff, all toleranced nicely, etc., and make it to run on pump gas, it shouldn't be able to break the aluminium 302 Dart block right? Afterall, how much power can a 347 on pump gas make? (without a blower).

Anyways I was just wondering how much stronger it is than the Ford Racing aluminium block.

Oh and thanks for your other replies, they are exactly the questions I would have asked, had I have been here earlier!

Naw, not yet. Just got the block and stroker kit back from the machinist this week. I did a little prep work on the block today, along with gapping the rings. I assembled the rods to the pistons two days ago ( my fingers STILL hurt from the spiro locs ) Hopefully it'll be up and running in the Ranger in a month Still got a few parts to round up to assemble the motor along with other projects on the burner to deal with too.

you can take a 302 block to 357 or so. With a dart block, the cylinder walls are thicker allowing more boring and still have strength for high horsepower applications
