thats what i'm afraid of with mine.
i think its mainly just the cheap crappy vinyl stripes at like auto zone are going to fade. i think the good ones have some kind of protective coating.
i figure if after a few years it looks like crap, i'll take it off, and get them painted.

mine works really well and can take a fair amount
My rocker panel stripes are Ford made (the plastic wrap they came in had the Ford emblem and part #), but I got them from graphic-express.com. I've had them on for about a year and a half and they are holding up great I do have a nick in the driver door stripe possibly from a rock. I wax them with the rest of the car and they shine quite nicely. Granted a side stripe will last longer than a top stripe since it is usually out of the more direct sun light, doesn't have rain/snow and/or possible debris laying on it which helps. I'm tempted to get a BOSS package to see if I can live with it before spending $$$$ on paint and not liking it. So +1 on buying vinyl then if you like it, save up for paint
I bought that stripe from BSM last week. I must say, considering I've seen SO many people rave about BSM, the quality was... sub-par... to be nice. The edges weren't cut well, the backing paper material used was very junky compared to what I've seen in the past. Most importantly, the stripe was shipped very poorly. It was creased to the point that it was a lost cause to install. The vinyl was sticking to itself before I ever even tried using it. Very disappointing. I have installed numerous vinyl stripes and even clearbras over the years, so while I'm not a "pro", I'm not a "noob" either.
I had bought stripes from graphic-express.com for my 2007 before, and just received a bunch for my new 2009 2 days ago. The difference in quality and shipping is just not even comparable on any level. You'll pay a bit more at graphic-express.com, but in this case I unfortunately found that you get what you pay for.
I e-mailed BSM about this, so we'll see what they do about it. I'll post back here if they take any positive action.
