Where can I find a stroker kit for my 2002 GT? I'm just wanting to see my options of what I can do and where I can get it. Thanks in advance for the help. Any help is appreciated

I went through houstonperformance.com for mine and I wasn't dissappointed, although most people will tell you that stroking a mod engine is a waste of money.

& that is very true if you are doing it for a power mod only. much better ways to spend your money if that's what you are looking for

stroking it will give you more TQ but not alot more HP than a .020 over block with ported heads, cams and intake.

I used to think that stroking these engines was a good idea when staying N/A with stock head/intake.....but after seeing somedynos i realized that the heads just dont flow well enough to take advantage of the stroke and increased demand of air flow...now blown, peak power stays the same but lowend torque is higher...IE more drivable. N/A lowend torque is amazingly strong but just falls off at mid-topend...and again thats due to these crappy heads...a 4V would prolly do pretty good with a stroker.

When 3.75" stroke stroker mod motors first broke cover 5.0 Mustangs and Super Fords ran a test with one of the VT kits. The test showed that you need to cam for the increased displacement to get significant gains. You'll get gains without camming, but they are minimal when compared to $$ spent. Add cams and it's a whole nother story.

I always thought the hot ticket would be a big bore DOHC 4.6 (3.70") with one of those 3.75" stroke cranks. It's like 320 inches in a 280 inch package.

From what I have read it is not worth the price tag if you are staying N/A.

Now, I need to forge my internals next winter. Would it be worth while to stroke it at the same time since I will have to go in there anyway?

Oh, I have a 2002 with the 9psi intercooled KB.... I want to dial it up to 14..thats what t he forged internals are for.

so will stroking my car to at least a 5.0L reduce the driveability? because it is my current daily driver car and probably will be for a few more years.

no it won't affect drivability. there are just better ways to add HP, cost wise anyway

mph has them. vt offers them.


it is all about $$$$. costs about $500 more.

for example you would be better off spending that $500 on cams if it was between cams or stroker kit.

now if money is no object and you were doing everthing go for it.

I have the KB 1.7 and I am in the middle of the short block replacement and the 14 lb pulley - I went with a vt engines sportsman block with 8.5 to 1 compression, stroking it would of cost an additional $1,000.00, or they do have a $500.00 option -and probably 10 hp and 30 ftlbs torque down low, where in my opinion, it is not needed with a twin screw blower, also, I had read different things about the stroke of the 4.6 and that it is long for the engine to begin with, and lastly, I did not want to outgrow the 1.7.

I think there are better areas to spend money, then to spend it on a stroker, especially if money is no object. The only time I would think about a stroker is if I was going to run a positve displacement SC and even then, I would still go with a Big-bore. I have seen a 5.0L stroker using stock cams/heads/intake compared to a stock PI 4.6 and the results showed that the stroker LOST POWER.
