I have an '01 GT with B&G springs, lowered about 1.5-1.75" and looking for struts and shocks. Since it's lowered, will 94-04 work or should I look at the 87-93. What does everyone else do? Thanks.

I dont see why u would look at 87-93 if u own an 01 GT. What are B&G springs? Yes, 94-04 will work and I would strongly recommend buying the parts for a 99+ GT.

I would buy tokico or bilstein. I went with bilsteins becasue they are the same part number for both models up front. hence a no brainer.

I would call Maximum motorsports. you don't have to buy from them but ther are smarter than 99% of the people who post here who are not up all all the technical aspects of designing a suspention to work together.

They will be able to tell you if you need the fox body struts with your springs.

He would look for fox body because they are 1" shorter. 99-04 are designed for factory height so they run 1.75 compressed at all times with his springs. this will blow out some brands of shocks and struts prematurely.

Are you looking for factory shocks and struts or aftermarket? If you are looking for aftermarket just make sure u buy shocks and struts that are meant for lowered cars. I got my H&R sport springs and Tokico 5 way adjustable for lowered cars and I've had no troubles.

Ok, I have Eibach Sportlines on my 00 GT and am running Tokico non-adjustables. I've had the fronts on there for like 3 weeks and already blew out the driver side strut. Am I not running the right kind of struts? I thought those were for lowered cars? I just bought 2 new ones and am wondering if it is just going to keep happening.

Are you running the premium or drag race? Both of those should have an option when buying for either ones for stock ride height or lowered ride height.

I know they are not for drag racing. I didn't buy them from a dealer but off Ebay brand new. So what would the part number be for the option for lowered ride height? I just bought 2 new fronts from someone selling them on here. I hope they are the ones for lowered cars.

Just click on the link that I posted above and look on that site. It has the part #'s and it tells wether it is for lowered or stock ride height.

Look at the actual part number you bought. they are fox body shocks and struts.

If you look at the MM page the part number for the 87-93 and the lowered 99-04 are the same.

Look like it is front only though. the rear part number is the same lowered or not. maybe had a diffenent upper mount on the 87-93 rear's I have never owned one to know.

I was told to go with Bilstein with my 1.25" drop. I wrote maximum motorsports and they helped me out with everything and answered all my questions. I didn't buy the struts and shocks from them though because I found them much cheaper at another place. I bought their c/c plates with the springs and their c/s is excellent.

it makes a difference, I have sportlines and blew the 94-04 tokico fronts in no time flat. With the 87-93 there are no issues.

They are the same part number. How does it make a difference? 94-04 lowered struts have the same part number as the 87-93 struts on Maximummotorsports.com.

look again it is a different front strut number
edit: you are right, thats the point, its the same part. The 94-04 regular strut is not the same as the 94-04 lowered strut(which is the fox body strut)

So you mean that when you were blowing out your front struts, you were using the Tokicos for stock height mustangs 94-04? If so, I thought you were talking about the ones for lowered 94-04 being different than the 87-93. A little confusion there. No biggie.
