OK don't laugh but I started to change my oil just now and seem to remember there being two pan bolts that I had to take out to drain it. I can only find one. Can someone come up with a pic or something showing me the location of the two? Damn this is sad.......

The pan has 2 sumps to it. The more shallow sump is towards the front of the car and there should be a bolt in that sump, and one in the deeper rear sump. I believe the bolt in the rear sump to towards the back of the pan. I haven't changed my oil in 14 months (It's only been 1650 miles ).

And the front drain plug doesn't point straight down, it's right on the front edge of the pan.

don't worry, I'll get the mods to make a sticky (be careful when you drain the front plug, it doesn't go straight down

I've always just removed the rear bolt in the oil pan... Should I remove both when I change my oil

YES! you are leaving about a quart of used oil in your tank then... plus, that will mess up your new filter (make it not last as long) w/ used oil in there...

Yeah when I bought the car it was my first Mustang so I didn't know all it's little in's-and-out's (still don't) and I only did the rear sump. I must have went through 10 quarts of NEW oil trying to figure out why, after "draining" the oil, I still had too much much in it. I finally just called the local dealership and asked!
