Sub frames off a 99+ GT vert...

These are the bolt-on sub-frames that come on the verts...will they work on a 99+ V6 coupe?

The dyno shop I work at takes them off all the time and just gets rid of them...so I thought I would see if they would work on my wife's car.

they should but full length weld in are so cheap.... and so much better....

Cheap is not cheaper than "free"...if they are put on vert GT's that put a lot more stress on the chasis that a V6 coupe...should they not work fine. They also weigh only a few pounds...full length sub-frame connectors can weigh upwards of 40-50 lbs....

I agree go with full length and WELD IN, do not bolt on. Your car when turning at high speeds puts tremendous stress on your car's frame. Bolt in's often times are not strong enough. Weld on ones on the other hand can take some punishment.

Heh, paypal me some coin and I'll be more than happy to put on a part that is way overkill on a car.

Show me some pictures of bolt-on sub-frame connectors failing...especially on a V6 coupe Mustang putting down very little rwhp.

I have a few sets of the sub-frames and am going to throw them on. Heh, it 's for free.

why dooz the dyno shop "just take them off all the time" is this some sort of shady dyno shop that steals stuff off peoples cars that they will never notice is gone?

Hmmm....could be people get aftermarket parts and when asked if they want the stock parts to keep themselves...they say they have no need for it.

Just like the 17" GT rims with tires I bought for $200...a guy came in, bought some 18" Cobra replicas and asked if we wanted the old rims/tires for $200....

And if the dyno shop was into stealing stuff...OEM subframe connectors are on the top the list in the black market?

Subframes are not overkill. First off let's start with a pet peeve for all mustang owners, rattling and squeaking. I had b*tt tons of it, put on subs now they're gone-unless I'm going over bumps. Second let's think about chasis flex, the mustang has two or three? (sorry can't remember) pieces that make up the one chasis, are you telling me cantonracer that this platform is more stable without subs than with? Now we place this stang on the aforementioned "twisty roads" with and without subframe connectors and you will notice a HUGE amount of difference in chasis flex. Why is this? BECAUSE AT ANY SPEED SUB FRAMES KEEP THE CHASIS AS A UNIBODY AND NOT INDEPENDANT PIECES!!!!

Not to impugn anyones opinions but sub frame connectors are not overkill. If anyone has done the rear wheel dance because some idiot on the freeway payed more attention to his phone conversation than his merging into your lane almost side swiping you, you too would know subs help with handling and control. Those that say otherwise, again in my opinion, ARE WRONG!

These sub-frames connectors came off a 03 Cobra convertables...a car that in any form and function would absolutelly KILL a V6 coupe...from the factory. BUT, these sub-frames that come on this car simply cannot stand the abuse that a 170rwhp, weak-ass suspensioned coupe will put out.

Putting on weld-in subframe connectors on cars that are 15 second cars, can handle corners no where near actual sports IS OVERKILL. If you cannot see that...please, do not mod your car NO more.

I SIMPLY asked if anyone had used these bolt-in subframe connectors and all I get back is complete bull**** answers...Yeah...the weld-ins made my car so much better..my 170 rwhp was pulling my car apart...but they keep it together now...

Man...sometimes this forum can spread bs like no other...

If you notice this is a question. I did not state that this is what you said. It was more for effect than anything else. Don't get so defensive, LOL. You are correct cantonracer that in a relatively stock Mustang subs MAY and I stress MAY not be needed. But for ride comfort.....and sanity (the creaks and squeaks) these things are well worth the expense, on a stock, OR heavily modded ride. In my opinion for handling as well. I do not and will not change my stance on that. I will concede as stated above, but then again, not many people buy a Mustang and expect NOT to modify it, those that don't usually do anyways. And a great many of these people go on to modify heavily (supercharger, turbo). These cars can benefit greatly from the subs.

Again no personal attack was meant cantonracer, I apologize if my response was construed as such. Relax.

As far as this forum spreading BS I too will agree with you to a certain extent. But more importantly this site spreads knowledge to enthusiasts such as you and I. And because of that it is a great thing, and should not be admonished.

. on both accounts. Bolt on subframe connectors will work fine, it's better than nothing at all.

not everyone has the money lying around to get some welded on subframe connectors. I have auto-x'd my car before, I did very well, and I had no problem with my subframes snapping off...and for all of you who have ran auto-x before, you will know that you have a lot of twists and turns in it.
