Suggestions for VC gaskets

When mine were leaking on my 88 5.0 I got a pair of valve cover gaskets from a 5.0 Mountaineer and never had a leak again. Theyre metal bonded with a light coating of rubber Im sure youve seen them. Not sure whatthe stockers are from the factory but every time Ive bought a Stang theyve had cork gaskets. :notnice:

I like the Ford Racing Valve Cover Gaskets Part# FMS-M-6584-A50 their just like the stockers. I am actually still useing the stockers with trickflow heads and valvcovers

You Bet :spot:

You can use them over and over and over :nice:

here is a little tip for you :D

DO NOT crank down the bolts really tight :nono:
it kills them way before their time is due :Word:

All you need to do is just compress the gasket a bit and it will seal just fine ;)

My buddies 87 GT had the same VC gaskets as I did and mine are the metal with rubber kind like said above. I have re-used mine several times.

Prob. one of if not the best VC gaskets you can get. I do not know any reason someone would use cork or like gasket if they still have the stock ones.

I thought I once came across a brand that even had ferrules in the bosses so you couldn't overtorque 'em. :nice:

Maybe I'm thinking of another gasket for another car though.................

I've seen those over the years :)

A first impression would be ... they would be great :nice:
for those who don't have the ... feel ... for how much is too tight :D

The thing that scares me about them is those little ferrules can fall out and
down into the oil passages  :chair: :fuss: :bang: :nono:

Those FMS ones kick ass, but they don't work on certain heads. They don't work with my Canfields, because the lip is too narrow. Just a little tip for the future, you can get rubber ones at Advance at Autozone. They aren't listed for late model 302s because they have tabbies like the Mr. Gasket ones. You can twist the tabbies right off and they work fine though. The Felpro part number is VS13264R, or have the parts guy look up valve cover gaskets for like an 85' 302.
