Suggestions: Pulled out a few spot weld holes

So I was removing the floor of the mustang last night and a few locations where I drilled the spot welds still pulled out and left holes. Clearly I cannot weld in these locations now. This coupled with a bit of rust damage has me considering a repair option for the edges affected.

Becuase this is the floor pan edge I was considering:

Clean up the damaged edge (grinding/preping for welding)
Welding a stripe of new steel over the top of damaged edge.
Attaching the floor and cleaning up the holes on the old edge from the bottom.

Does this sound reasonable? I have rarely had this many spots pull through. I don't want to cut the whole edge off and weld a new one on necessarily, but I could do that as well.

I hope this email is descriptive enough.

With the new floor and coating OXide treatment My best guess is the fix will be invisible.

I would love to hear what others have done.

Mike

The pros use a copper buck on the backside of such holes, and close them up.

The copper would act as a heat synch? and probably makes a nice flat weld on the backside....Makes sense, I tried this minus the copper. This seems doable.

Thanks GT.
