Didn't Ford offer the sun/moonroof as a factory option for the 2005+ 'stang? I have yet to see a coupe with this factory option...

I wonder why, a sunroof would have been a nice option.

Probably cause it would have added another 80-100lbs to the already portly weight of the S197's.

Ford hasn't had a sunroof as an option for a Mustang in many, many years. I think it has something to do with structural integrity and body flex. If I remember correclty, Ford had so many complaints about the Mustang body flexing that it quit making hatchbacks and factory sunroofs.

Look, guys, I only brought this up because we (wife and myself) want a late ('06/'07) used, fairly low mileage v-6 'stang with the PONY PACKAGE. We were looking for a convert. with this package, but they are very few and far between. There are many more coupes that fit our specs. with the P.P. out there on autotrader.com and other search engines. That's why I brought this up: we'd settle for a P.P. coupe with a factory sun/moonroof, but apparently that is not an option, soooooo.....

i heard that they didnt make a sunroof because it would possibly cut into the sales of the convertibles?

My next door neighbor owns a very well known sunroof and upholstery business in our area. I asked him about sunroofs for my 03 Mach 1 and my 07 GT. He tells me that the typical power sliding moonroofs that Ford uses in so many other products are possible in those other models as most roofs are rather flat so the glass can drop and slide neatly under the roof panel.

However, the Mustangs from 94 to the present have such a highly curved surface that the possibility of jamming and rubbing has prevented Ford from wanting to tackle a factory install and only a handful of aftermarket companies offer this kind of product. I work at a Ford dealership and we've installed quite a few aftermarket sunroofs in Mustangs, so it can be done, but the glass has to be rather short (front to rear) to keep from jamming under the roof skin.

If you don't mind a pop-up sunnroof that sticks up like a spoiler above the roof skin when it's open, then there are bigger sunroof panels that will work. But those kind of sunroofs look so 1970's!

A better alternative is glassback roof mentioned here by others. I've seen several in person and they are incredible and offer much more glass area overhead. They are spendier (roughly $2,000 to $3,000 depending on vendor), but much nicer.

Here's a glassroof. Hell, $3000 is nothing. You'd pay more than that for some dumb accessories on a German car.

I love this car.

Based on the location of most of the pics in his album, he looks like a fellow Canuk, too.
