Sunroof?

It's that time of year and I miss my '95 convertible and was thinking of cutting a hole in the roof of my '94 coupe. Has anyone installed a sunroof in their coupe? Any links and or recommendations, brands, etc...?

Get the targa top kit. Costs a lot, but man is it cool.

I've actually given it some thought, but I wanted to research the sunroofs too.

Anyone have any experience/suggestions?????

Will the car ever see rain? I've had 2 cars with factory sunroofs and both leaked. Not bad, but they did leak a little. My dad's stang has an aftermarket sunroof in it, I don't know how good it was when it was new, but now it wont close and it leaks really bad. And sometimes it rattles too.

Like any sealed system, they need to be replaced every so often. Don't listen to them. It's just like having a convertible top. It gets beat to crap by the sun, and needs replacement every once in a while.

I have never done one, but I don't think it's too hard. All you need to do is get the correct sunroof for the contour of the roof. Then cut out the proper hole in the roof with a body saw of some sort, install the sunroof and you are set.

My sunroof was installed when the original owner had it in 96' and it's never leaked I've been in the rain and washed it, however the car only has 36,000 miles. It depeds what you do, targa or t-tops take a lot of abuse, a huge amount of rigidity and body integrity is in the roof.
I think sunroofs should be fine, mine seems to be holding up quite nice, although the car has been garaged it's whole life so the sun hasn't had a chance to do anything.

I had a sunroof installed in 2001, before my move to Las Vegas ... I have no complaints, in fact, I have used it every time I have driven it since.. rain exception. I would recommend it!! I have not installed one myself though... and I don't think I would and I am a do-it-myself-er.

You should get the targa top kit cuz I have yet to see it on a 94-98. If you can make up for the loss of unibody strength from cutting the roof by getting beefy SFC's, it should be fine as far as rigidity goes.

I'm hoping someone wakes up on Sunday morning, gets some coffee, logs on to Stangnet and just happened to install a sunroof yesterday and can give me all sorts of advice...

My 94 has a sunroof installed from the dealer when it was new. If you want, I can take some pics and put them up for ya. Its never leaked on me. The only thing is that I have to lube the tracks since its gettin a little slow.

mine got a really cool sunroof...it has the sliding headliner cover..w/a vent in it...and the roof actuall folds out all the way,and loooks like some spaceaged wing on top of the car......i thought it was buttugly the first time i seen it opened...but then it started lookin cooler and cooler..never leaks either.and zero sound.i dunno who makes it...but it was factory installed by request of the orig owner.

ford should have/know where to find it right? since its a ford modification...i cant lie..i get worried somethings gonna fall on it alot..

There is a local shop here that charges $320 for a pop up sun roof install. They garantee their work and will replace anything that leaks. When I had my '87 they tinted my windows and I was going to get a sunroof but I ended up selling the car.
