My sunvisors in my 90 LX 5.0 has screwed up velcro and flaps and so they don't hold the button down; the lights stay on all the time and drain my battery. How can I disconnect them without cutting the wires? The fuse goes to other things. I couldn't get the bulbs out and can't figure out a decent looking way to hold the flaps up.

I'd like to find some nice used ones reasonably priced, but until then, I need to work w/ what I have.

Any ideas?

James, I dont know what they look like, but if you dont need to use the mirrors, can you use some good double sided tape on the mirror glass (and the other sticky side adheres to the inside of the flap)? Some of the 3M tapes are very sticky and might hold.

Or can you somehow press the buttons up and get them to stick? I have used a dab of superglue on things like that - a decent tug or pull breaks the glue loose (or acetone).

Good luck James.

P.S. I have been meaning to ask you for a while - how long have you had two stangs (is the second one a newer acquisition)?

I removed the sun visor mounts, disconnected the wiring pigtail & re-installed them. Or you can pop out the little light bulbs.

I'll prob. do what Jrichker said; I thought there was some sort of disconnect somewhere, but just didn't know where to look. I've tried pulling the bulbs and couldn't get them out - I was in a hurry though, so that could have been why.

srothfuss: Thanks for looking that up for me; I was going to look them up on 50resto, but never got around to it. I'd really like to keep the mirrors.

HISSIN: I've actually had the 90 LX 5.0 for nearly 4 years now (fall 2001):D I saved up and bought it my senior year of high school - $4000. I had a 91 4 banger auto before that and sold it about 6 months after aquring the 5.0. About a year after getting the 90 (fall 2002), I got my Jeep. Then the next spring (April 2003), I got my GT from ebay; had to borrow the money to get it, but it's paid for now. I've learned a lot w/ it, but it was a HORRIBLE investment lol. I'll probably stick w/ these 3 for a while. I can't force myself to sell any of them, although I planned to sell the 90 when I got the 91 GT. As long as I can keep one drivable, I'll be alright - and that's generally how it goes :damnit:. lol I got tires for the GT friday and my autometer gauges came thursday, so I hope to be driving the GT this coming week :D
