Hi I've had my 2002 Mustang for about a year know and have done any mods to it yet and I think its about time to start. It's an automatic and I've been thinking about supercharging it. I was wondering if it is worth doing or not. Also if so, how much better will the performance be and will there be any thing else I will need to replace.

Thanks
RJ

Defanitly worth it. Pete at v6power.net sells a complete kit with everything including fuel upgrades for 2500. Stock you could put down 260rwhp which is around what a cobra has.

If you had a 94-98 v6, I would say hold off and upgrade to the split-port stuff, which is stock an 99-04's. But since you have a 02' I would DEFINATLY go for it. The 99-04's take to blowers really well, much better than 94-98's. Blown 99-04's w/full exhaust will put down some great numbers. Go for it, and hunt down some unsuspecting GT's like me

Thanks everybody for your replys

The next question is which supercharger is the best? Ive been looking at Vortech and Procharger is one better than the other.

Rear wheel horsepower ... GTs have a BASE hp of 260 ... after my mods, I only have 247rwhp with an 03 GT. Also, the older Cobra's don't have the power that the 03-04 Cobras have. I "think" the 94 Cobras were rated at 240bhp ... But, I guess my point is that a stock GT doesn't have 260 rwhp.

94 cobra was RATED at 240 bhp but they were underrated...most people find the crank hp to be closer to 275 hp

I understand that ... but 275 at the crank doesn't translate to 260 at the rear wheels, right?

275 at the crank translates to about 233 RWHP using the standard 15% drivetrain loss.

Some of you are being to brod in your replys, you cant just say Cobra's put down ( insert #'s here ) Theres a big diffence between 95-04 Cobra's.

BTW: Supercharging is fun, but just be carful b/c yeah you will take down some unsuspecting GT's (fairly stock) just watch out for the Supercharged GT's.

I got a 94. So you are saying I can upgrade to the split port? How so, and what do I need? Also, are there pretty decent gains from this? Sorry about being kinda off-topic, but I figured Id ask instead of starting a whole new thread. Thanks!

99-01 cobras put down anywhere between mid 260s and the upper 270s...just depends. They are about as strong as the machs, they also put down in the 260s normally, but I have seen some in the mid 280s stock. Stock 99-04 GTs put down anywhere from 205 RWHP (auto) up to 230RWHP (5spd). Not sure what mine puts down, but i can waste stock auto GTs EASILY, even raced my friends 02 M6 SS and his car is a little quicker (tuned), by the end of my 4th (115) from a 10MPH roll he is about 1-2 cars up, which isnt very far, pulls past like a VERY leisurly (sp) walk...the first time I raced him from a 75MPH roll, and from there to 112 he went from his bumper at my door (when we started) to my bumper at the rear of his door.I think the car kept upping the timing, as each time I raced (3), he seemed to pull harder. I would like to run a S/Cd V6, but havent found any yet.

With an overly rich "safe tune" I had 255 rwhp and 281 ft.lbs with a Vortech @ 8lbs.

With all my new mods I should be around 300-310 rwhp @ 12lbs.
