Hello everyone, my dad is making a 66 gt350sr replica. He has a question about a support in the front. It goes from the hood latch like all the way down to the apron, he put on the gt350r apron already but you can see the support go all the way down, on a picture of the gt350sr it shows nothing, what do you do with that piece? can you just take it off?

With hood pins you're usually using a lightweight hood that has no facility for latching to a standard latch, and so you can remove the latch and the support. I'd do it, cleans up the view, you lose a pound or two or surplus weight, and you get better airflow to your radiator. All minor, but a lot of minor things add up to a lot.

ill check that out, i dont think were changing the hood, we just put a hood scoop on it so the latch is still there, i think it also holds up the raciator or something, its connected to a few things, anybody else know about this piece? thanks for the reply

I have a similar valance. And a fiberglass hood. I am going to hood pin and keep the latch. So the support has to stay. What I am planning on doing is put a section of matching grill there. Two reason, 1) disguise the hood support; 2) keep rocks and crap from hitting my radiator and oil cooler.

Check out mdjays car for billeted grill ideas, upper and lower.

All of that has been removed from mine. If this is done you will need to use hood pins. Not the best picture in the world here, but as you can see it does give the car a clean look.

Me will all the bad guys at Sebring during 3 hour enduro race.
