Hi all:

I am just about to finalize my GT purchase, and I'm considering replacing the suspension with the Roush completes suspension kit (The Roush Rep I spoke to says its exactly what they put on stage 2/3) and a roush short throw. Anyone have experience with these parts? My dealy is a Roush Authorized Dealer, so I will let them do the work.

I think the stock 'stangs suspension is pretty mushy and imprecise for my taste, but I don't want to turn it into a butt-buster of a daily ride. The roush rep says its 'supple yet firm'- but yeah, hes paid to say that!

With the short throw, I'd like to get a more precise and quick shift. The Stock shifter feels like 'bowling'. Its a great shifter for a sedan, but not for a 'sporty' car.

Because of warranty and other issues, the only parts I want to put in are Ford Racing, Steeda or Roush, so if people have any head-to-head experience with those shifters or suspension components, that would be fantastic!

This forum rocks, BTW, and is one of the main reasons I settled on a stang over the solstice, Z and other assorteds.

if your dealer is roush dealer, test drive one of the roush cars on the lot to see how the parts feel.

Oh- also- I'm also interested in any information about how the Roush suspension kit improves handling vs other suspension 'package' kits, Like FR or Steeda.

IMO everything Roush or Saleen is grossly overpriced. I would recommend the FRPP handling pak, Hurst shifter, and FRPP power pak. This is exactly what the Shelby GT gets. It will also be covered by your factory warranty.

Warranty only if you pay the dealer to install it.

As far as the shifter goes, the only shifter worth talking about is the MGW. This has been hashed over for more than a month now on other forums and it's hands down the best shifter out there by far. I ditched a Steeda shifter for it and installed a second one recently on a buddy's car. If you want a real top loader feel and just push it forward for 3rd gear and have the ability to adjust the throw length where ever you want it from stock to 50% shorter, smooth, quiet, perfect.....get the MGW shifter. Nothing comes close. I've driven '05's, '06's with Hursts, Pro50's, Steeda's and they just don't compare at all.

I have Roush springs but over Tokico D-Specs. Vastly better than stock. A British mag tested the Roush Mustang with the full Roush suspension a couple of years ago and loved it. It came second only to the M3 CS on handling. The ride on the springs is comfortable and not a butt-breaker.
