SUSPENSION HELP NEEDED

I did a search, and looked at other combos before posting.....but i want to know combinations that work well, and complement each other.......

Ok i have no suspension mods done to my car.............or traction mods. Since i have finished the head cam swap that i did.......my car has no grip in first or second gears when going full throttle.......Help me cure this......

I have stock springs....stock shocks, struts, control arms, and no subframes..........So what i want is my car to handle on the curves have descent straight line traction.....and be lower.....much lower.....

The only thing i have for traction is the nitto drag radials for the track.............and i will have 285/35/18 tires mounted on my saleen rear rims by the end of the week.....still don't think it will grab though....

Maxium Motorsports has great suspension help on there web site or give them a call and they will head you in the right direction. But this is what I am going to do for my car.

Maxium Motorsports Full length subframe con.
Maxium Motorsports Caster/Camber plates
Maxium Motorsports LCA
Ford Racing UCA
H&R race springs
Bilstein Shocks & Struts or front coil overs.
Maxium Motorsports Panhard Bar

And I would replace all bushings because the stock bushing only last 40,000 miles.
Front & Rear Control Arm Bushings

Front End Link Set

Rack and Pinion Bushings

Strut Tower Bushings

Front & Rear Coil Spring Isolators

Transmission to Frame Mount Bushings (except 94-98)

Tie Rod End Boots

And check your ball joints if you are lowering your car more than 1.5 in. then get Steeda 2X ball joints.

Hope this helps I will be doing mine in stages so I don't have to fork out $2600 all at once.

For less money you could go with caster/camber plates Full length sub frame, weight jacker LCA from MM, Strange struts and shocks and Steeda sport springs.

so you have put some serious thought into your suspension combo huh........

i am in the process of doing so........actually i saw a coilover setup last night in person.....i was impressed......where can they be had from reasonably

This is what I have and I'm pretty happy with it. I'd like to add the MM panhard bar and torque arm as well if I decide to keep my car. You should also change the old upper control arm bushing on the axle.

03 Cobra front control arms
HD Bilstein struts/shocks
FMS C Springs
MM Caster/camber plates
MM rear adjustable lower control arms
FMS upper control arms
D&D SFC's

I have just the Tokico illuminas and there springs to go with it and I am pleased with them to me the car hooks up very well.

MM is really good. I just got some C/C plates from them yesterday in the mail, installing this weekend.

I have Steeda UCA + adjustable LCA. Kenny Brown full length subframes. FMS C-springs.

I plan to put on a MM panhard bar/torque arm. That is really gonna help alot with traction. Coilovers are the way to go no matter what you do. I don't know about where to get them cheap though. I know MM has good ones. Look around at Steeda, Griggs, MM, Dugan Racing, check their sites out, see what they have to say.

If youre basically starting with stock and you just want some "common" upgrades, most of us have started with lowering springs (along with the C/C plates) and subframe connectors.

Those other things listed are great, but you cant just have people "THROWING" suspension upgrade items around like it's $1.99 and expect to get good info from it.

that is what i will start with for sure RC........i want the springs to lower the car to make it sit nearly flush with my newly installed 18" rims and tires.....then i have to replace my stock shocks/struts.........and then i want to add rigidity......my next thought was upper and lower control arms.......after that is what i was trying to figure out.........

Check out my sig below. I've got a few things and haven't had an issue with bumpsteer or anything else. With the springs, C/C plates, and shocks/struts my car now rides like a sports car should. Nose dive during braking is a thing of the past. Body roll is almost gone.

I don't have all the suspension stuff I could put on, but eventually. I know the direction I'm going so I'll take my time to get their as money is available. In the end, I'll have most of the MM Road & Track Kit providing me a ride that suits a daily driver and track-worthy handling.

Yesterday, I got to test my suspension big time! A car pulled out in front of me on a major highway and blocked two lanes while waiting to make a left (three lanes going my way). I only had a couple seconds to make a decision which ended up taking my car around the rear of hers. I figured she was about to crap her pants, so I shifted over two lanes ridiculously quick with a good bit of brake and hoped for the best. She stopped before I thought she would (I was doing 60 originally) and had to shift over more than expected. To my surprise, the car simply did what I asked it to do without any fanfare or spinning out of control. If I had my stock suspension, I guarantee that with the massive brake dive, less braking ability, and poor suspension, I would have either creamed the lady's car or spun around from changing lanes so quick. Dumb move on the lady's part, but I didn't want either of us hurt.

Anyways........with my new suspension, I now enjoy driving my car on any length of trip. Expensive, but worth every penny.

ok so what is everyones pick for an economy shock strut package......just to make it sporty to drive through turns etc.......

i just swapped in some Tokico springs and struts(Bullit) with my 18s...i like em...good price, stance...I run Bils in the rear....I read a few post regarding the Tokico package with 18s so I went that route...18s tend to kill the ride some...

For starters a spring/shock-strut kit, throw some subs on and youll see a world of difference...all depends on cash flow...

well cash flow has been semi ok lately ........hence the reason the car is finished.......good thoughts andy...
