Howdy folks,
I lowered my car about 4-5 months ago and the last few weeks ive started hearing a popping/knocking sound from the front end. It happens when i turn, im trying to think if it happens while i turn when i drive, but i know for sure it makes the sound when i turn into a parking place. Im assuming its some bushings of some kind but honestly I have not a clue. So any help will be greatly appreciated...oh and by the way ive been searching for some urethane bushings for my car but havent really found anything ....I have a 2007GT Thanks again!

check out prothane for a bushing kit.

the popping may be related to the upper strut mounts. did you reused them for the install? ford issued a TSB for a revised upper mount. not sure if your 07 has he new ones or not. also, i recall them being one time use. i reused mine until i got the camber plates, and had no issues. sometimes when doing the springs, the upper mount may come apart. did this happen to you? did you get all the bearings reinstalled if so?

I bought steeda's coil over kit and it came w/ new upper strut mounts. i had a local ford dealer install them...so im assuming he used them. Maybe he didnt do the install correctly? Should i take it back and have him look at it? Or should i just buy caster/camber plates?
Thanks again.

If you got upper strut mounts from Steeda, they may be the exact ones I got. They have a much better bearing than OEM. I'm sure most of all the other aftermarket ones do as well. That being said, he may not have used them or (not likely, but possible)torqued the nuts wrong:shrug: The Steeda upper strut mounts allow for camber changes of +/- 1 degree more than OEM already. I would definitely take it back!

UPDATE...I took my car to the dealer Fri. (because my alternator went out believe it or not) and had them check my suspension out. The dealership said it was a bearing that was causing the noise so I had them call STEEDA to work out a solution. Well nothing ever seems to be that easy and this is what happened:
The service rep called STEEDA and talked to the guy that sold me the kit.
STEEDA is saying it is an install issue. The dealership disagreed saying the bearing is defective. STEEDA said i could send them the strut and they would assemble it correctly and mail it back to me if i couldnt find anyone that could handle the work. Even if i have the dealership install it again its going to be about $300.00.
I'm leaning towards STEEDA's side thinking the dealership doesnt want to warranty the work...the guy did hang up on my STEEDA sales rep. saying he was wasting his time...awesome.
Any suggestions on what to do?

Oh and when i got my car back my drivers side window doesnt roll all the way up when i shut the door nor does it roll up or down automatically...when it rains it pours right? :notnice:

try this out and let me know how it goes...

ISSUE:
Some 2005-2007 Mustang vehicles may exhibit issues with the functional power window features including one touch up, short drop, and bounce back.

ACTION:
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition if the root cause is incorrect or no window initialization of the Smart Window Motor.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

Perform a de-initialization procedure of the smart motor / side window glass, followed by re-initialization procedure.

NOTE: WINDOW RE-INITIALIZATION MUST BE PERFORMED WITH THE DOORS CLOSED.

NOTE: ON CONVERTIBLES, WINDOWS COULD BOUNCE BACK IF THE SIDE GLASS IS OUT OF ADJUSTMENT. REFER TO THE WORKSHOP MANUAL (WSM), SECTION 501-11.

NOTE: CHECK TO MAKE SURE THAT THE DOOR SEAL OR MIRROR SEAL IS NOT ROLLED OVER OR BINDING. ALSO, THAT THERE IS NO OBSTRUCTION IN GLASS SEALING AREA AND THE GLASS FIT AND/OR REGULATOR MECHANICAL FASTENING IS NOT LOOSE.

DE-INITIALIZATION PROCEDURE

De-initialization (un-learning) of the smart window motor clears the memory of the module and shuts off the One-Touch UP, Bounce Back and Short Drop functions.
The smart window motors can be de-initialized in two (2) different ways:
Disconnect the battery cable from the battery WHILE THE WINDOW IS MOVING.
Remove the window motor fuse from the Power Distribution Box WHILE THE WINDOW IS MOVING.
After performing one of the above procedures, the smart motor must be re-initialized, see Initialization Procedure.
INITIALIZATION PROCEDURE

INITIALIZATION MUST BE PERFORMED WITH THE DOOR CLOSED! (For convertibles, top and the quarter glass must be in the up / closed position.)
From the window switch, perform the following steps without stopping:
Operate the window UP and stall for 2 seconds. (Hold The Switch)
Operate the window DOWN and stall for 2 seconds. (Hold The Switch)
The smart window motor will be initialized and one-touch-UP and Short Drop will be operational.
Cycle the window glass an additional five (5) times to set the window "Soft Stop" for the down position.
TIP - VOLTAGE RANGE OF OPERATION: 9-16 VOLTS (AT THE MOTOR)

The smart motor will ONLY function in the 9-16 volt range; if the voltage at the smart motor drops below 9 volts, the window may not function properly or prematurely stop moving
If the voltage drops below 9 volts while the motor is moving, the motor will become de-initialized (one-touch UP and Short Drop will be inoperable)
If the motor becomes de-initialized due to low voltage, see initialization procedure. for instructions

WARRANTY STATUS:
Eligible Under Provisions Of New Vehicle Limited Warranty Coverage
