A few months back I finally got my car here on base from out of state. I had a Steeda 5-lug conversion kit put in and I swaped out to 17X8 Eddelbrock 454 wheels. The set up looks great but now my tires rub the fenders when I go over big bumps. I relized that I need a new suspension set-up. My ultimate goal is to imitate the SVO car in terms of suspention and performance. First off, I think the coil springs are shot. The car has 230,000 miles on all original undercariage. It seems to sit lower than it should in terms of factory set-up. I'd like to go with the UPR K-member with coil-overs. Is a K-member a good idea?Since the 1965 Shelby GT-350, SVO, and Saleen Mustangs had Koni shocks, I decided to get some myself. Does anybody know what sort of Koni system I should get? I think the SVO had quad shocks in the back. How does that work? Koni sells a SVO Mustang kit on their site, but will it fit my 1991 N/A 2.3L? Will it work with a K-member? Help!!

Well at that mileage the bushings in the suspension are pretty worn out. You can spend far better money than on tubular suspension parts. You would benefit far more to going with SN95 spindle/brake setup, along with Ford motorsport front A-Arms. There is nothing wrong with koni shocks, but they really arent all that necessary. Even with its lighter weight, a Bullit spring/shock/swaybar combo would be fine for you.

But if you want konis, i can tell you that those struts will not fit the front of the car properly as the spindle is different. They will fit the 5.0L spindles.

What Steeda 5 lug conversion kit did you buy, and how much did you pay for it and to have it installed?

I can't say for certain how much it cost as I was away and had my dad do it using my funds. The kit was about $600. All in all, it cost about $4,000 for the kit, its instalation, for the wheels and tires, with all labor. A bit more than I anticipated, but I was committed. I think it was worth it, Edelbrock 454's man! But anyway, the kit required the spindles and struts from a 5.0, so it has that.

U should go with a eibach coils and KYB shocks and struts. A tubular K member is a pain to install but if u find someone to do it for a god price then go for it! Good luck

SVO struts WILL NOT FIT anything but an SVO (to my knowledge). They had unique spindles and strut mounts that were different from other fox bodies.

How did you do your 5-lug conversion? i.e. use different spindles or something?

He used 5.0L spindles in the front, and used this kit from steeda http://www.steeda.com/products/5lug_conversion_kit.php

For that kind of cash an SN95 front disc conversion could have easily been had...

I thought SVOs used lincoln front spindles?
