I just bought a mineral grey '03 vert. w/26,000 miles totally stock just 3 weeks ago and have already built in the following mods (see below)--all done professionally. Problem is I'm 65 and the DC traffic is killing me. I'm already limping after 2 weeks of driving that car in traffic w/the 75 lb clutch (arthritis in knee). I'm thinking of switching out the 6-speed for an auto. Question is what tranny would make the best swap. Will the new 5-speed auto from the '05 GT handle my estimated 500 rwhp? Should I go w/a Lightning 4-speed auto or try to beef up the new 5-speed? With the auto also thinking of adding 50 shot n2o and/or Snow methanol/water cooling kit. I've still got some wheel hop and a little fish tailing in 2nd. Intended use street only (except to doc et's at strip.

I'm not too sure about what tranny to swap with but I know you could check out Steeda.com and get their adjustable clutch cable. This way you could adjust the clutch to be real light when you're just going to be driving it around.

You need to get with Herman at HBH (Horsepower by Herman). Herman has a shop in Maryland and he specializes in T-56 to AODE tranny swaps and has done numerous 03/04 Cobra's. You'll need to beef up whatever A/T you choose (C4/AOD/AODE) to handle the power your putting down currently. Herman can install (or sell you all the parts required for the swap) an automatic in your snake and it will look FACTORY STOCK when he's done. Here's some contact info and be sure to come back here and let us know how it goes!
