Ok, I swapped an 87/88 tilt wheel and column into my 93.
I looked over this guys swap tutorial... http://mustanglife.tenmagazines.com/mygallery.ten-id-3556-album-7278
Then I did it, it was pretty easy...

My problem is the whole column and wheel seem to go towards the right.
It's off by the dash plastics (towards right) and I don't know what it is!
May the whole column have been slighty bent?
The two main mount up brackets under the dash are the same right?

Thanks for any ideas!

If I remember correctly. The holes on the column are bigger and elongated more than they need to be. When you bolt them up can you maybe ajust it slightly before you tighten it down all the way?

What holes?
The first bracket has no play, therefore you can't adjust the position. It slides on to bolts/screws very tightly with no play.

91 column

88 column

Thanks,

Are you sure you don't have the tube installed upside down?

True, the ignition would be all upside down and on the left if you put it in backwards. I hadn't thought about that

I guess the bracketry might be different. The steering column actually swivels inside fo that black tube that the brackets and the ignition stuff is connected to. You can pull the shaft out of that tube.

maybe try your late model tube with the 87 shaft and wheel?

The shaft end by the steering wheel may be different, due to the fact that it's tilt.

Other people have sucessfully done this swap, in and out, so there is something small I'm missing, or my entire column is just slightly bent...

All the tilt stuff is after all of that if i remember correctly.

I'd say you got a bunk shaft tho.

I second that... the shaft should slide out pretty easily... trying the other tube cant hurt.
