Swapping 7.5 for 8.8 ran into problem with brake lines

So I dropped the 8.8 out of my 1990 5.0 lx and was going to drop the rear end out of my 93 2.3 lx. But before I began I looked at the rear brake lines mainly at the distribution block by the pass side rear axle. It is different than the 5.0's 8.8 brake lines?


How should I bolt the 8.8 into the 2.3l if the brake lines will not be a direct bolt on? Any advice? Thanks

Anyone know? I read and searched. So far what I came up with was to just grind off the distribution block that is part of the axle housing on the 7.5 and transfer the 7.5 brake lines onto the 8.8 housing?

How did others go about it?

cool thanks I emailed stinger, according to his swap he unbolted the dis block on the 7.5 and added it onto the 8.8, I emailed him.

wouldnt GT brake lines work or brake lines from a 5.0 LX?

I used the 4cyl dist block and then made my own lines that go out to the wheels. But if you have the stuff off the old rear either will work. The V8 brake line is longer to allow for the exhaust to go by. I would try to stick with the v8 stuff and gentlely remove it at the wheel cylinders and diff cover bracket and transfer it that way.

My understanding is that you need a combination of both lines to get it to work.

The 5.0 brake lines are routed differently on the body of the car than the 2.3.


So if you look at the 5.0 you will see that the brake lines hook up towards the center of the car. The distribution block is justa bout at the center of the diff cover.

Now on a 2.3 housing, the distribution block is off to the pass side axle housing. So just bolting in a 8.8 will not work because the lines would be too short.


Stinger said that I need to remove the 7.5 distribution block and cable, and attach it to the 8.8 dist cable, then bend the line to make it work.
