I have an O/R H-pipe with Magnapacks, problem is its way to loud. I can either put on a catted X in hopes of quieting it down or swap muffers.

I have the Magnapack cat back system on there now, can I just swap out and get some regular magnaflow mufflers w/ out having to change the tail pipes since I know that some of the muffler outlets are center or off center. Is it just a direct swap if I do this?

i'm in the same boat , bbk headers, mac o/r pipe, and magna packs. i hate driving it on the street cause it's so loud, highway is a different story.

i went to several shops to find out if i could swap out to regular magna flows mufflers, or any brand like flows, or even mac mufflers. but no one could give me a def. answer. some shops never gave me an answer, other said the best way is to try and find out. but by the time i buy 2 mufflers and get them installed, i can almost buy a non stainless steel catback and know it's going to fit. not end up with 2 mufflers, paid for useless install and still be at square one.
if you happen to find anything out please let me know, and if i find anything out i'll let you know

Thanks
Joe

I wouldn't think there would be a problem with just switching the mufflers. The reason I say that is that for the '03-04 Cobras, Magnaflow does not make a magnapack catback, just the one with their regular mufflers, and the people that wanted magnapacks had to buy the regular catback then get the 'pack mufflers seperately and swap them.

The link below is the muffler replacement but would need to be welded in. The hangers that are on the Magnapacks would also need to be cut and re-welded on to the new mufflers. Please let me know if you have any further questions on this.

Thank you very much and the rep I talked to the other day was helpful as well. The Magnapacks do sound great and everyone likes it but being on a 351 with no cats its just to much. Its just screams please pull me over and ticket me. I believe some different mufflers and a catted X will suit me well.

Wow, thats a really misleading statment.
I take it, your making that comment without even owning their product?
I must say at first i wasn't thrilled about the price of the cat back, but the fit and finish was very good. i haven't had any problems with mine and before i had the headers done, it sounded ****ing awesome with just an o/r h pipe.
Of course with the addition of the headers it also added the screaming please pull me over and ticket me.

You wouldn't happen to have a sound clip of you driving off do you? I would like to redo my exhaust, going long tubes H pipe and not sure on cat back just yet. I just gotta dump this crappy t5 in the ocean and replace it with something stronger :nonono:

just at idle, we took a longer video reving it up but im not sure what happend with it.

I will be selling the magnapacks for anyone thats interested. Wont be until this spring though.

i would just sell the entire catback and get something better.

if I didnt like magnaflow I wouldnt have gotten it to begin with.

Welding its no big deal, I think I'll go that route.

My car is quiet on the HWY. That's the benefit of 3.27's lol. I had the same issue thoug and flomaster 50 series delta flows solved about 60% of my issue better than anyother muffler.. other than the walker/dynomax mufflers sitting in my garrage that were too quiet. The other half 20% was pulling all the carpet up and putting in blanket type sound insulation. The other 20% was the gearing. The 414 has tons of low end so the lesser RPMS onthe hwy don't hurt it other than the slight bucking i am trying to get rid of. Hope that helps.
