Ok, I have played around for a while with Caledit and have gotten use to how it works. Any suggestions or hints on using BinaryEditor as I switch over??
I really like BE - the only downfall of it is that it does not have all of the functions/tables/scalars that CalEdit has -- this is especially true for the auto guys.
Clint has added a few features to it for me that I find very useful, he is very responsive to emails with problems.
BE is the main program I use when tuning my car and others. It "just works". Also if you are savvy with memory offsets you can edit the definition to add items to log, functions, tables or scalars. It's money well spent in my book.
I just downloaded the BE and EA and installed them on my laptop although I have not paid for them yet (they cannot be used like this as far as I know) they look like they will be very helpful. The EA really looks to be helpful. I like the way BE looks just messing with it and will probably pay for it when I pay for the EA.

The beauty of BE is that the definitions are based in Excel format.
If you can find the Table/Function/Scalar in TunerPro/PCMX, then you can add it into BE.
I don't know how well developed the TunerPro or PCMX definitions are for 94-95 though.
I've taken a couple of PCMX Scalars and set them up in TunerPro with good results. (that was A9L though...)
From what I've seen, BE would be even easier to setup...

Supposedly Clint, Mark and Mike (BE, TunerPro & CalEdit) got together and settled on a unified naming for all the scalars, functions and tables, so the name changes that are in BE should be showing up in the others soon. I absolutely love how they renamed and categorized everything - makes things easier to find. Change is a pain sometimes but in this case I think it is a winner.

Like a lot of things ... the perspective of one ain't like another
I came up from the early days with EEC TUNER and got my basic
understanding of the pcm's operation with that tuning software.
When the Tweecer came out ... the scalars, tables, and function
names basically stayed the same
So ... back in the old days when everybody was trying to figure
out the basic stuff ...........
Well ... Thats the only way I can try and explain my perspective I guess

You guys that came in the community years later ... don't see it that way
Here are the benefits I see with the older software
1) I'm comfortable with all those original names
2) My datalogs open up in Excel with just a click on the file name
3) My datqlogs are ready to go with no need of filter before analyzing
4) I can use older programs such as Log Analyst with much more
ease than EA ... (not to say I don't like EA) ... its just EA takes longer
to load and is a bit more clunky
5) I seem to have access to all I need for excellent drivability & power
Now ... I can't believe I'm actually gonna say this
but
This is one time I gotta say I don't wanna understand something
The Tweecer to me is a tool
I want it to work for me and be able to use it without me having to
understand software from the point of some programmer hosing around
with bits or 1's or 0's and all that stuff I know nothing about and don't
wanna know about.
Still ... I don't see an UP SIDE for me to change

No I sure haven't -- it's on the list, however. I need to run by the local electronics stores and see if they have anything in stock that I can match up on the chip - the plug you found is perfect!
