Synthetic Oil Pressure?

SHOULD be no different for the same weights regardless of oil type..ex 10-40 may give you more than 10-30 at temp..but type should not change reading. My little girl sits at 65 cold idle 45-50 warm and 65+ cruise on 10-30 GTX.

I'd look at the filter as a suspect item...a good filter is more important to me than best quality oil, as long as it's clean I feel good about it. Now you indicate 45 idle and 45 cruise..that doesn't sound right unless the idle given is cold idle. 29 is not bad idle warm, how many miles on the 'new' motor?

Well with the warmer weather the oil will thin up a bit faster than with cooler temps as the engines tend to want to run 10-20 degrees warmer. My pressure will drop 5 pounds from normal (50) when she's hot and the idle gets under 900..where is your idle at? I find you can increase pressure if you take the idle up a tad to say 900..I'm willing to bet you find 5+ pounds there. My reading are with 600 miles on the motor and would expect it to come down a bit once the milage comes up. Keep an eye on it and don't give it too much thought.

Well my idle is already set at 900. I probally should have said this earlier but I went to the track the same day. I didn't run very hard, just went with some friends who were racing. Coming home is when the idle pressure dropped. It never dropped bellow 29.

Really only two options at this time...pull the filter and replace..pull the sender and replace. If it were me because I'm that anal, I'd pull the fluids and filter and see what's what with new in place, no change then maybe look at the sender. Have you checked it today?...I'm sure the internals are fine but if your bothered then those are some options.

Well I'm only a little worried because I have some clutch problems after the track too so this pressure drop at the same time is worring me more. My oil pressure is a mechanical autometer gauge so I know thats working fine.

Clutch issue COULD be...might be...maybe..related to the clutch issue if you've launched the RMS or it's sprung a leak and coated the clutch. Check for oil on the dust sheild or down the back side between the tranny and the block. Still don't see how a leak could affect pressure..but I never say never with a ford.

what oil pump you have and what oil filter u use?

Hotter weather and synthetic oil will lower your pressures. You can try thicker oil for the summer. My engine is doing this now that its a lot hotter out. Next month or so i'm going to try 20w50 as recommended by my builder. I use mobil 1 10w30now with a mobil 1 filter. Probably give royal purrple or amsoil 20w50 a try.

stock type pump and K&N filter...motor is just a baby so I don't expect the pressure to stay that high a the miles mount, but I'm very pleased with the pressent numbers...highest I've seen a RPM is just past the tick between 50 and 75 on my electric autometer which breaks down to bout 65-66. Engine temps are consistant at 180-185 and I think that helps with the tad higher numbers.

Ok I just poked around a little under the car and theres nothing anywere near the headers and theres no more oil on the back of the engine as usual. I've had a small leak in the oil pan gasket since i built the motor so theres always been small amount of leakage but still no more then usual. Any more ideas?

Oh and also this was Saturday and it was cold and raining so heat wasn't an issue.

the thing is im refreshing my engine and i had the stock aluminum oil pump but its has scratch rotors and when the car gets hot it lower's the presure so i whant to put a new pump wich should i buy?
