Ok so I am pushing 29k miles and have been thinking about switching to synthetics for a while. I was just wondering if 29k is too late to switch over. I have heard about leaking issues with higher mileage vehicles and thought I would try to get some opinions.

Hey its not that funny, It didn't smoke before the synthetic oil was put in. The guys at mustanggt.org told me there are problems putting in syn oil in high mileage cars!

Stupid syn oil cost me a set of heads! Anyways the Mobil 5-30 works great in the 98 GT

:D

I have used Amsoil 5w-20w on my 02 vert since the first oil change after 2K miles. However, I started using the same type oil on my 97 Explorer after 95K miles. It currently has 125K miles, runs better than before and my gas mileage improved. The Explorer has no oil leaks, doesn't smoke and gets most of my driving "abuse."
:D
