Synthetic Oil Question

I know how long it takes to change the oil....so what? That was never in question.

We recycle here as well, however you are still wasting oil.

Not contradicting myself at all... attack me, I'll gladly show you the same courtesy.

I and others have been trying. Others can comprehend it, why can't you?

because i did comprehend that synthetic doesnt deteriorate after 3,000mi, but all you did was make excuses to not change it, when there is no reason in the world not to.

and just to let you know, you were first one to through the insults.. (courtesy, correct?)

snkypete, I work on my own car thank you very much. But when FORD gives me a full warranty and tells me to change my oil every 3,000miles with 5 20 I THINK IM GOING TO DO IT. You put so much stress on facts that maybe you should look at opinions more often. In MY opinion is that anyone is stupid to take a perfectly good warranty and throw it out the door just because they think they can run oil for 30k miles. Ill pay the 12 i spend a month on motorcraft oil and filter and have my insurance. Oh by the way the explorer was running synthetic and we DID send it off for oil analyzation!!!

So then you know that Ford CANNOT void your warranty by using Amsoil synthetic for 25k miles, using their filters and changing them every 12.5k??

I could care less about opinions, everyone has one and they're all based upon BS. I have my opinion on things, doesn't mean they're right...only facts are correct.

So you believe that you have to use Ford oil and filter? This really is hopeless. I will be happy to bet the quality of my oil after 25k is better than yours after 3k - interested?

You took a shop customers oil and sent it out for analysis? Ok....I'll bite...what did it come back saying? Was the filter changed as required in between? I seriously doubt it since you stated the customer said they didn't know oil was supposed to be changed.

The AMOUNT of time it takes to change the oil was never in question. It is still a waste of time...like typing to you. You change your oil every afternoon - have fun.

I thought you left? We were trying to have a discussion before you came here with your idiotic comments.

Bye.

also, you know that running that much milage on oil on a TURBOCHARGED car isnt exactly smart, right? yes you knew that.

You guys keep changing your oil...have fun.

I wasn't making excuses for anything, I was using common sense. You still haven't said why you don't change your brakes and hoses?

Um no, I didn't throw the first insult...go back and read.

Oh please Mr. I know everything...tell me why it's not good....you know so much - enlighten me...I'd LOVE to hear this as well.

Again, a dumb ass opinion without any facts....

Does a turbocharger put more stress on oil? Yes.

But still, oil does not need to be changed based upon mileage, it needs to be changed based upon its quality. The sooner you learn that, the sooner you'll learn something about cars.

Oh ok, your the professor, not me.

Why dont i change my brakes and hoses every 5k miles? You really want to this to turn into a flame war?

dont tell me what i know about cars, man. oil is a matter of preference. changing it at 3k doesnt hurt anything except your feelings.

are we done yet?

You flame me, I flame you back. Don't flame me, I don't flame you. It's that simple. You flamed me....then you don't expect it back?

You change your oil every 5k for no reason so why not change your brakes and hoses every 5k for no reason? It's a serious question. Unless the oil is contaminated or has been broken down there is no reason to change it - period. No one can determine by looking at oil that is has broken down (unless it is an extreme situation where antifreeze has entered the system or something like that) so if you're not sending it out to be analyzed, how can you say that it cannot survive and provide adequate protection for a longer period?

You guys keep taking cheap shots....not a problem...it shows you know nothing about the actual topic. If you'd like to discuss facts, I've been waiting.

Go away and let us talk about oil - you've yet to add anything to the discussion.

You're hysterical...no one said it hurts anything - well except the persons wallet. But it is stupid to change synthetic oil at 3k and it is not necessary. Assume someone drives 30k a year - 10 oil changes is $600, seems to me $540 could buy some other parts....

My feelings? Hahaha, if you HONESTLY think I care about your opinion you're sadly mistaken....you've shown you know nothing about cars and I seriously doubt I could learn anything about them from you. Your opinion on everything means nothing to me.

this coming from someone who knows it all! :hail2:

petes right, but you have to change your filter much more frequently then 30k miles.

also, not to flame, but where do you go to get oil analyzed?

I just have Amsoil do it. One guy on a PSD mailing list also uses Blackstone from time to time for an unbiased opinion but they have always come back the same.

Correct...Amsoil says to change their filters at 12.5k (made by Wix I believe), other filters at the regular interval.

everyone i know has their oil analyzed to save 15 minutes of labor..

As for getting oil analyzed - you should have it done intermittently no matter what if you TRULY care about your motor. Someone like you with a stock car trying to be tough behind a keyboard probably doesn't need it - but those who build actual motors, getting your oil analyzed is key....you can actual determine the state of your motor by doing them.

But hey you know everything right?

How often do you cut your oil filter open to inspect it? I'm sure all the time right? Hope you're better with the insults than you are the car knowledge.

Can the rest of us return to discussing oil now? Thanks.

snkypete since you BUILD MOTORS...oh wait if since your being such a no it all i thought i would tell you that a motor is electrically powered....but anyways who do you work for building these motors?
