Im planning on buying just a t-5 tranny and rebuilding it since my roller didnt come with one.

question is, is there a kit i can buy that will make it alot stronger than stock? or is it just 1 rebuild kit thats it? im new to this if that question sounds dumb sorry.

Also since i have to buy it all anyway, is there another year tranny i can get thats better then t5? someone told me to get tranny from a 99-04 gt? just curious.

okay, first off it was a fight night tonight, and ive been drinking.

the JEGS kit for 320 is a better than stock WC T5 rebuild kit. it has stronger synchros and rings from what i understand, it is a complete T5 rebuild kit. you can find it by google searching T5 rebuild kit. how ever if any of your gears are bad i am not sure yet on where to buy those at. i am trying to get info from another forum, the guy has bought a DVD that im buying. guy says that he paid for the build of his car by rebuilding the T5 trans. he bought the DVD by bad shoe productions. and was able rebuild his trans.

check out my post for a link to bad shoe's website.

If it's 85-93 and the gears themselves are good:

85-93 Mustang T-5 Rebuild Kit at LRS - Same Day Shipping!

But I don't know what year T-5 you have or are buying. That kit is for a world class t5.

In order to really increase the strength of the trans, you physically have to upgrade the gears themselves. You can rebuild a T5 with upgraded syncros and new bearings, which is great, but if you're looking for a STRONGER trans, you have to swap the gears (input, countershaft, output, etc). Look into Astro Performance, they sell rebuild kits and gear sets for T5s, as well as complete transmissions. I have an Astro T5 in my car right now, and its been working great. Their customer service is pretty good, too.

Stonger synchros aren't the problem. Hell, if you see what actually comes in the rebuild kit you'd understand it's not gonna do anything for you at all.

If you want a stronger trans, you need to upgrade the gear to a better alloy and reduce mainshaft flex with a stronger mainshaft or a reinforced case. Unfortunately all these cost money.

Look into Astro Performance or G-force gearsets. Unfortunately for the price you will pay, you could pick up a 3550 or TKO.

You could also do the Z-spec gearset, which is rated for around 330 ft-lbs
