Wanted to say hi to everyone and thanks for any and all ideas, advice and help in advance. Ok, so my problem...

I have a 96 GT with the 4.6 and a 5 speed. Best car I've ever owned (up to this point ;-) )
When in gear (1,2 maybe 3rd) there seems to be a squeeking noise coming from around the rear of the motor or transmission area (at least the best I can tell) When I press in the clutch the noise goes away. As I accelerate the squeek speek increases as the car speed does. After about half way through 2nd gear the squeek goes away. with clutch pressed in I can rev the motor and everything seems fine, no squeeking. Any time the clutch is pressed in, the squeek goes away.

I just replaced the clutch, T/O bearing and pilot bearing thinking it was one of them causing the issue. I WILL NEVER DO THAT AGAIN!!! TO THE SHOP IT GOES. I'LL GLADLY SPEND THE $$$$ FOR THE COST OF LABOR.
Anyway, after getting everything back together I had it towed up to the muffler shop (with me sitting in the driver seat stearing btw... ) In nuetral, not running (due to lack of exhaust) there was no squeek. I pick my baby up from the shop to drive it home. I'll be *@$# if the squeek wasn't still there.

This is driving me nuts and I have a long road trip to get to reserve duty coming up in the next couple of days. Any and all help would be much appreciated.

Ok...stang back on the jack stands. did some testing and the squeek is deffinately coming from the T/O bearing. Sprayed down with lithium grease. We'll see in the morning if that helped at all. If not, I hope someone can help explain why a new T/O bearing would squeek like that and how to stop it.

What brand parts did you install? Some supermarket companies make garbage tob.

Agreed, cheap TOBs are notorious for squeaking.

Don't even remember at this point. Bought them from Orileys. But I'm sure it's not the top of the line brand.

OK, after some checking and having the ford dealer mechanic take it for a spin it was determined that the squeek/chirping was coming from the u-joints on the drive shaft. Sooo, changed both of them and it fixed the problem. NO MORE SQUEEKING/CHIRPING. for the $19 it cost for the u-joints and the hour it took to install them I would suggest that anyone with this type of problem start off with the u-joints first and work their way to the clutch, T/O bearing and pilot bearing. just my two cents.
