Will a t45 out of a 94 gt fit in a 65 coupe????

If it's a 94GT, it'll be a 5.0, and a T5, not a T45. It'll fit fine

Actually it won't just drip right in. If I'm not mistaken 94s had a shorter main shaft, I think.. The 93 and previous t-5s are the ones that drop right in.

no you need a T-5 prior to 94

isnt the problem the bell housing, either the bolt pattern or being part of the case???????

longer, I new it was one or the other.

Iskwezm, I think the bell is actually shorter therefore you need an adapter plate to get it to work....I need to stop posting before going to bed and when just getting up lol.

I have a '95 Cobra T-5 in my '65. It fit fine, except that the trans mount was made for the 87-93 T-5, so I had to weld on a little extension plate. The '94-5 versions are about 3/4" longer than the 87-93 versions, so the driveshaft is correspondingly shorter. Not a big deal...

Of course, this all assumes that you're really talking about a T-5 and not a T-45... If it's a T45, I've got no idea.

The 94-95GT T5 and 94-98V6 T5 are ~1" longer, as red65 said and the shifter is positioned a bit differently (more towards the center of the hole IIRC). That said, it fits in a 65-66 pretty well (seen a few with this trans) and it's been debated if it actually fits better. BTW, as per Tremec, the V6 T5 is V8 spec, despite what I've read here.

Of course, if its a T45, that all goes out the window.

the bell housing is longer because of fords failed attempt to install the engine and trans in one unit.this is the reason that the trans is longer,the case it self is the same! the trans can be used if u get the right bellhousing 87-93 and shortrer 87-93 input shart

thats what i thought. i have one just laying around so i was going to see if i could use it. i guess ill just go with the 4 speed

how do i tell if its a t-5 or a t-45 cause i thought all years after 93 where t-45s

see if the bell housing has 5.0 cast in it on the top the 94-95 t-5 i had said that they used the t-5 till 95 part # would be f4 or f5 if it is a 94-95 tranny e=80s f=90s

You can still use it without swapping in the shorter input shat and bell. I don't know why people are so fixated on th 87-93 T5s

All you need are the right swap parts, don't give up so easily, that extra gear will come in quite handy for mileage/driveability or rear-gear swaps.

I'm with 5.0ina66 on this, The 94/95 T5 is a nice fit if you use the matching bell housing. By the way the V6 (3.8L) bell housing is the same as the 5.0L just has 3.8 cast into it, but it bolts right up to any small block, ask me how I know. If your going with a cable clutch setup these trannys line up more toward the center of the factory shifter hole. the only time you have to change the input shaft is to retain the stock bell and then you have to use the adapter plate anyway.

only way you'll have a T45 is if it came out of a 4.6 car.

and if it's one of those, you don't want it anyways.

Sorry to thread jack, but is there any differance in trannys beteween the 65-66 and the 71-73? what im asking is, is there a tranny that would just drop in on a 71-73?
